CT Examination Procedure

Booking: Referral from a clinical doctor is required. Our radiology department will arrange the scan time.
Preparation:
- Fasting Requirement: If an abdominal examination is required, patients should fast for 4 hours beforehand.
- Allergy history: If you have a history of contrast medium allergy, please inform our staff when booking or before the examination.
- Kidney disease/diabetes: Provide serum creatinine within 6 months if over 65 or with these conditions.
- Pregnancy: Inform staff if pregnant or unsure.
- Cardiac scans: Avoid caffeine or stimulants 12 hours before coronary angiography.
During the scan: Radiographer will position you; contrast injection if required.
Scanning: Scan takes approximately 5–15 minutes, depending on the type of examination. Some scans require brief breath‑holding; your radiographer will guide you.
After the scan: You may resume normal activities immediately; drink plenty of water if contrast was used.
Report: Radiologist analyses images and prepares a report, which will be sent to your referring doctor for discussion and diagnostic reference.
