What is Prostate Cancer?

Prostate Cancer ranks third among the top ten cancers in Hong Kong men. According to the 2021 Hong Kong Cancer Registry1, there were 3,038 new cases of prostate cancer, with the highest incidence in men over 65, posing a significant threat to older individuals. Regular prostate cancer screenings are crucial, as early treatment can greatly enhance survival rates.


Symptoms:

  • Difficulty urinating and weak urine flow
  • Frequent urination, especially at night
  • Lower back pain and bone pain (in advanced stages)
  • Hematuria (blood in urine)
  • Sexual dysfunction
     

Treatment Options:

  • High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) minimally invasive surgery
  • Transperineal MRI-guided prostate biopsy
  • Ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy
  • Robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy
  • Localized treatment for prostate cancer
