Please come to the hospital if you experience any show (vaginal bleeding), water breaking, or abdominal pain. For any queries, please contact our Maternity Unit at 2608 3270.
If Union Hospital and your attending doctor determine that you are not suitable to deliver at our hospital (e.g., in the event of a premature birth before 36 weeks), we will refer you to another hospital under the Hospital Authority.
Please inform our staff upon admission whether you will opt for our maternity package. No alterations or refunds are allowed once your decision is confirmed.
Upon admission, please bring identification documents (HKID card or valid travel documents for non-HKSAR residents), confirmation certificate for delivery booking (for mainland expectant mothers), doctor's referral letter, all antenatal investigation reports (especially High Vaginal Swab results), and deposit receipt. A surcharge will be levied for those unable to provide antenatal blood reports.
No delivery suite surcharge will be levied for spontaneous vaginal deliveries on weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays.
A surcharge will be levied for caesarean sections performed at specific times.
For an elective caesarean section, please arrive at the hospital 4 hours prior to the scheduled operation time. Fasting for 6 to 8 hours before the operation is required.
For spontaneous vaginal deliveries, the husband can stay in the Monitoring Room and Delivery Suite without additional charges.
For the safety of both the mother and baby, husbands are not permitted in the operating theatre during non-office hours (Monday to Saturday, 21:30-07:00, as well as Sundays and public holidays) if an emergency caesarean section is performed. If the husband wishes to be present in the operating theatre during an elective or emergency caesarean section, he must obtain prior consent from the attending obstetrician and the hospital. Please be aware that additional charges will apply for this arrangement.
Additional charges may apply for special nursing care and equipment required for complicated deliveries. In some instances, the maternity package offer may be subject to cancellation.
Charges will be levied for additional laboratory tests, phototherapy treatments required for the baby, or diagnoses performed by pediatricians.
Additional charges will be incurred for preparing formula brought in by parents.
Please bring your nightgown. Nightgowns are also available for rental.
You can purchase a breast-feeding gown at the hospital if needed. Please contact our staff for details.
The hospital will provide basic commodities for the baby during hospitalisation. Please bring the baby's clothing for discharge.
The checkout time on the discharge day for the delivery package is at or before 12:00 noon. Both the baby and mother must check out at the same time on the discharge day, unless the baby requires medical treatment.
Please do not bring valuables to the hospital.
TThe hospital only allows accredited cord blood storage companies to provide services.
