Multi-disciplinary Liver Cancer Care

Multi-disciplinary Liver Cancer Care

There are many modalities of treatment for liver cancer, including surgery, loco-ablative therapy, radiotherapy, and systemic therapy. Most patients are anxious for immediate treatment but lack the knowledge to seek the care of the right specialist. To facilitate a multi-disciplinary care for patients with liver cancer, a team of specialists is assembled under the Integrated Liver Centre of Union Hospital. All liver cancer cases will have the best treatment plan tailor-made individually.

Members of the liver cancer team include
  • Hepatobiliary surgeons – liver resection surgery
  • Interventional radiologists – loco-ablative therapy including radiofrequency ablation, microwave, and transarterial chemoembolization
  • Clinical oncologists - radiotherapy
  • Medical oncologists – systemic therapy including targeted therapy and immune therapy
  • Hepatologists – management of liver cirrhosis and underlying liver disease, including chronic hepatitis B, chronic hepatitis C, alcohol-related liver disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
