With the aim of providing a high quality, efficient and comprehensive physiotherapy service to the community of Hong Kong, especially in the New Territories area, our Physiotherapy Department and Union Physiotherapy Centre in Ma On Shan have adopted a holistic approach in assessment, consultation and treatment process. The Department is well equipped with state-of-the-art physiotherapy equipment and facilities, as well as a full sized gymnasium with an extensive range of exercise equipment for rehabilitation.
We provide physiotherapy for:
- Acute and Chronic orthopaedic conditions such as back and neck pain and other degenerative conditions
- Prevention and rehabilitation of occupational diseases such as tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome and plantar fasciitis
- Sports injuries prevention and rehabilitation
- Preparation and rehabilitation before and after surgery such as Lobectomy, Masectomy and ACL reconstruction
- Obstetric and Gynaecological conditions including antenatal preparation and postnatal rehabilitation
- Incontinence therapy using Neo-control Extra-corporal Magnetic Innervation (ExMI)
- Pediatrics cases including orthopaedic , pulmonary condition and developmental enhancement such as scoliosis, torticollis, chest infection and developmental delay
- Neurological rehabilitation such as stroke and Parkinsonˇ¦s diseases
- Prescription of walking aids and health related appliances with professional advice
- Chronic tendinopathy using Radial Extra-Corporal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)
- Health promotion and enhancement such as fitness enhancement programme and public talk
A referral from the treating doctor is essential.
Our Department also provides different combination of treatments based on the specific need of the individual patient including foot orthotic treatment. Foot laser scanning service is available every Thursday evening. Doctors are welcome to refer patients to the Department for biomechanical assessment of the patients' feet.
Indicated musculoskeletal conditions related to abnormal foot biomechanics include:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Medial heel pain (morning heel pain syndrome)
- Posterior tibialis tendonitis
- Bunion pain
- Metatarsalgia
- Neuroma
- Sesamoiditis
- Achillis tendonitis
- Patellar tendonitis
