Room Type
The hospital is committed to providing a relaxing and comfortable environment to ensure clients peace of mind during their hospital stay. Rooms are classified as Luxury Suites Private, Twin and Standard (4-5 bedded) and Day Therapy Centre(14-beded) and are aesthetically and spaciously designed to give a feel of tranquility and homeliness that is conducive to healing. All rooms offer en-suite facilities, panoramic views for the greenery, televisions with Cable and NOW channels, radio channels, telephones, refrigerator, bathroom, wardrobes, nurse call systems and in-room dining service. To provide the utmost comfort to our clients, we have installed electrically adjustable beds in all the wards.
Some of the rooms are also equipped with monitored negative pressure ventilation systems and UV air purification for providing optimal safety for patients and staff when patients with respiratory infections require isolation.

Admission Procedure
- On admission, please produce your : Doctor's referral letter, Identity document or valid travel document for verification.
- For client under age of 18 who is to have an operation, the parents or guardian should bring along the Birth Certificate or other valid documents which can verify their relationship and sign the "Consent for Operation" witnessed by ward staff.
- You are advised to bring along all your investigation reports or current medications, if any, to enable accurate assessment.
- A deposit is to be paid by cash, credit card or EPS.Cheque payment is not accepted.
- If you have any discount privileges, please show us the relevant document on admission. Any claims for discount after discharge will not be accepted.
- If you are covered by medical insurance, please show your medical card, guarantee letter, or the claim form.
In-patient Regulations
- Visiting hour is from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. Visitors should leave the ward after the visiting hour.
- To maintain a quiet environment and to minimize cross infection, no more than two visitors are encouraged at one time. (Children under age of 12 are not encouraged to visit the patient at wards)
- In order to minimize the disturbance to other patients, please keep noise generated by your conversations, children and the T.V. at low level.(The T.V. of standard room will automatically be switched off between 11pm to 7am)
- You are advised not to bring large amount of cash or valuables to the hospital.Your belongings of value must be locked in the wardrobe. The hospital will not be responsible for any loss.
- The overnight stay of an accompanying guest will be charged, no matter whether a companion bed is used or not. (Limited to one only except for private room patient. Companion for child aged 12 or below with or without use of a companion bed will not be charged extra other than the daily room rates.)
- Smoking and gambling are prohibited in the hospital complex and wards.
- To minimize our concern, please inform the nursing staff before leaving the ward. Please note that for any absence away from the ward of more than one hour without notification to our nursing staff, the hospital will treat this absence as unofficial home leave. The duration will be marked on the "Hospital Leave Record" which may affect your hospital insurance claim.
- Patients are allowed to change their accommodation, depending on the bed availability. An additional fee of HK$200 will be charged for each arrangement. However, the doctors' charges may vary with class of accommodation, please discuss any intended accommodation change with your attending doctors.
- In order to avoid interference with medical equipment, please turn off mobile telephone when you are in the hospital premises.
- Please do not give tips to our staff.
Charges

Minimum room charge is on a one-day-basis. The room charge of in-patient services will be calculated on a 24-hour basis.
For clients who have joined our Maternity Packages, the check out time on discharge day is at or before 12:00noon.
Patient staying less than 24 hours on the discharge day will also be charged a full day rate.
- Room charges are for the accommodation and use of room facilities only.Room charges do not include doctor fees, investigations, tests, meals, drugs, sundries, companion bed and treatment procedure, etc.
- Pathology, medical imaging and pharmacy services are charged at a flat rate regardless of accommodation type.This is not applicable to doctors' fee & Private Rooms.
- Hospital charges are payable every 2 or 3 days and can be settled by cash, credit card or EPS.Cheque payment is not accepted.
- The charges for medical consultations, surgeon's fee as well as anesthetistˇ¦s fee should be agreed between you and the attending doctor(s). The hospital will not be responsible for this.
- Administrative fee would be charged for request to fill claim form after discharge. (please refer to " General Information on Requesting the copy of Medical Record, Medical Report or Insurance Claim Form" for detail information)
- Surcharge is levied for emergency use of the operating theatres.
Non-emergency use of Operating Theatres on weekdays from 10 p.m. to 7a.m. and during the whole day of Sundays and Public Holidays will be subject to a surcharge of 60% (Except Maternity).
Genuine emergency use of Operating Theatres on weekdays from 10 p.m. to 7a.m. and during the whole day of Sundays and Public Holidays will be subject to a surcharge of 30%. (Except Maternity).
- 50% surcharge on medical imaging procedures and 80% on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) will be levied during non-office hours, weekends and public holidays, if a radiologist has to be called back for such an examination.
- Lists of charges on different services and items are available for information. Please contact our staff for details.
- Clients are not entitled to double discount.
- Charges are subject to change without prior notice.
Discharge Procedure
- When your attending doctor has decided that you can discharge from the hospital,the ward staff will inform the Accounts Department to prepare the Charges Slip, and collect your discharge medication (if any) from the Pharmacy.The whole procedure takes approximately one to one and a half hour.
- The Accounts Department will inform you when the bill is ready.Please settle your account with the Accounts Department in the Lobby.
- After settling the bill, please present the receipt and then collect your discharge medications /reports in the ward. Before you leave, check your personal belongings and valuables. The hospital will not be responsible for any thing left behind.
- Please follow the content ofˇ§Admission Agreementˇ¨ on admission for details regarding hospital payment.
- Clients of the Private Ward on 11/F may settle the bill directly in their room.

Catering Service
Canteen is located on the ground floor of the Main Block, meals are served from 7:00 am to 8:15 pm.Room service will be provided upon request.

Sundries
Distilled water, slippers, towel and pyjamas are available for sale.Please contact ward staff for borrowing the hair-dryer.

Telephone Service
-Dial '9' for outside line.
-Dial '0' for the operator to arrange for long distance calls.Additional administrative fee will be charged.
-The incoming phone transferring service is available from 7am-10pm.

Hospital Shuttle Bus Service
Shuttle bus service is provided by the Hospital.The shuttle buses run between the Hospital, Tai Wai (KCR) Station, Sunshine Bazaar at Ma On Shan.The Shuttle Bus Schedule can be obtained from the Wards and Information Counter.
(*Green Mini-bus route 68K also runs between Tai Wai, Shatin KCR stations and Union Hospital)

Located on the ground floor of the Medical Centre, the Shop provides a wide variety of flowers, gifts and snacks for your choice.

Car Parking
Validation with ˇ§2-hour free parkingˇ¨ chop is available at the following: - Medical Imaging, Operating Theatres, Pathology Dept., Physiotherapy Dept., Reproductive Medicine Centre, Cashier Counter, G/F of the Main Building (office hours: 07:00 ˇV23:00 hours), the Cashier Counter, G/F of the Medical Centre (office hours: 09:00 ˇV23:00 hours) or Union Clinic when visitor leaves the hosptial.We offer 2-hour free parking only for tickets validated with such a chop.HK$10 per hour is charged for additional hours.Those without validation will not be entitled to 2-hour free parking and will be charged HK$20 per hour.Please pay at the Cashier Counter, G/F of the MainBuilding before driving out.
*For security reason, please drive away from the Car Park before 22:00 hours.
The Open Car Park is only for emergency use by doctors or patients.The car will be clamped, and penalty would be charged for any parking over 1 hour.
- ATM Machine
An automatic teller machine is located on the ground level of the Medical Centre.
