The newly set up Heart Centre, with an area of 2,500 square feet, is situated at the first floor of the Union Hospital Main Building, in the vicinity of the operating theatres and the intensive care unit, to ensure an efficient cardiac support of critically ill patients.

The Heart Centre is composed of a catheterization laboratory and four units namely the cardiac clinic, echocardiography room, treadmill stress exercise room and multi-purpose room. The Cardiovascular Catheterization and Intervention laboratory is set up with full operating theatre standard, which is of its first kind in the territory, to ensure that all procedures can be carried out in the most aseptic standard. Its state-of-the-art Integrated s5i Intravascular Ultrasound Virtual Histology™ System is the first installation in Asia and tenth in the world, which allows detailed analysis of atherosclerotic plaques during coronary angioplasty procedures.
