Earmould / Earplug Prescription Service

Everyone has different ear shapes and canal sizes. At Union Audiology Centre, we utilize advanced computer modelling and 3D printing technology to provide customized and unique earplugs for our customers. The custom earplugs are made from soft and safe silicone materials, providing effective protection for the ears while enhancing overall wearing comfort.

Procedures

1. Otoscopic examination of the ear and determine if it is healthy and free of ear wax.

2. An impression is taken by injecting silicon material into the ear canal with a special syringe.

3. The impression will be left to settle for a few minutes and then removed.

4. It will then be sent to the laboratory for further production.

Type of Earmould and Earplug

Hearing Aids Earmould
Function: Hearing aid and earmould are inseparable partners. The earmould is to deliver amplified sound into the ear and secure hearing aid on the ear. It makes hearing aid more efficient.

Swimming Earplug
Function: Swimming, surfing, windsurfing and other water sports often involve cold and dirty waters making ears susceptible to swimmer’s ear, i.e. otitis externa, which refers to inflammation of the ear canal caused by bacteria and waterborne viruses. People who need to keep water out of their ears include children with grommets or anyone with ear-drum perforations or those prone to ear canal infections may need swimming earplug to prevent inflammation.

Musician Earplug
Function: Regardless of the types of music, if volume is high enough it may cause permanent damage to the tiny hair cells in the cochlea. Musicians are potentially at risk of losing their greatest asset – hearing. Musician earplugs are custom-made to reduce the overall intensity yet preserve the full dynamic range and quality of music.

Noise Reduction Earplugs
Function: Noise-induced hearing loss can be resulted from long-standing exposure to hazardous noises. Earplugs can protect your ears from loud noises by reducing the level of sound reaching in to ears. Some filtered earplugs may help to reduce the background noise level while maintaining ability to hear speech sounds.
