How to distinguish between cold and rhinitis?

Cold is a kind of inflammation of the nasal membrane caused by viral infection. Symptoms include sneezing, running nose, fever and sore throat. Whereas rhinitis is an allergic reaction to an allergen, causing stuffy nose, running nose, and difficulty breathing through nose. Both are diagnosed and treated based on the symptoms.
