Adult - Angina

Angina is usually a symptom of coronary artery disease (CAD), the most common type of heart disease. Chest pain or discomfort occurs when an area of your heart muscle doesn't get enough oxygen-rich blood.

Symptoms of angina:

  • Pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain in the center of your chest. It can feel like indigestion.
  • The pressure/pain can extend to the arm, especially the left arm, neck, jaw, shoulder or back.

First aid to patient:

  • Rest the patient
  • Avoid unnecessary movement
  • Transport to medical care as soon as possible
