Child - Head Trauma


Most head trauma involves injuries that are minor and don't require hospitalization. However, if severe symptoms are appeared, such as headache, cessation of breathing, severe bleeding, loss of balance, change in level of consciousness and repeated vomiting, seek medical advice immediately.

First aid to patient:

  • Stop any bleeding by applying direct pressure
  • Check for signs of circulation (breathing, coughing or movement). If absent, begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Avoid moving the patient's neck if he/she is unconscious or there is suspected neck injury.
  • Seek medical advice if necessary

Note:

  • At least 24 hours observation of the patient, see whether there is brain trauma or not
  • Check for the sign of severe symptoms, such as headache, cessation of breathing, severe bleeding, loss of balance, etc
