Banding of Haemorrhoids

Banding is a relatively safe and effective outpatient procedure without an anaesthetic. The surgeon uses a special instrument to place rubber bands around the neck of the haemorrhoid, hence cutting off the blood supply to the haemorrhoid which then dies and falls off after a few days. It is generally a painless procedure after which the patient can resume normal activities.
