Podiatrists provide foot care and footwear advice to prevent more serious foot health problems from developing.

Diabetic Foot care
Podiatrists provide screening, assessment and diagnosis and treatment of foot problems associated with Diabetes. After testing for neurological (nerve) and vascular (blood vessel) complications Podiatrists will devise an individual care plan for your needs. If you have Diabetic foot problems such as numbness of the feet and poor circulation or foot deformities, the podiatrist will provide you with specialist treatment and preventative foot care and footwear advice.

If you develop any foot infection, wound or foot injury the Podiatrist can assist you with advanced wound management techniques such as wound debridement, offloading, protective insoles and specialist footwear as well as scotch casts and total contact casts if necessary.

Biomechanical foot problems
Podiatrists provide examination of the foot and lower leg for common biomechanical limb problems such as flat feet, bunions (hallux valgus deformity) and toe deformities, highly arched feet, heel pain and plantar fasciitis. Podiatrists can provide tailor-made splints, toe protectors, insoles and casted orthotics to accommodate and correct foot and leg deformities to alleviate symptoms.

Specialist Foot care for ‘High Risk’ people
Many medical conditions may affect the feet and lower legs, they may cause the feet to be ‘at risk’ of very serious complications such as non-healing wounds, gangrene or even limb amputation. People with Peripheral arterial disease, Rheumatoid arthritis, Diabetes, SLE, Renal Disease, Gout must take very special care of their feet and our Podiatrist will be able to make a suitable care plan for your needs.

Surgical care
Podiatrists are experts in the management of ingrown toenails and chronic painful toenail problems. Sometimes these conditions may require surgical intervention to remove the whole or part of the toenail to alleviate pain. Podiatrists provide assessment of your suitability for surgical treatment of ingrown toenails and can provide surgical intervention for minor skin and nail problems affecting the feet under local anaesthesia.
